Acrylic on canvas – 2002. Piero Della Francesca’s Baptism of Christ initially inspired this painting. The woman is in a posture reminiscent of the cross. From her centre, water is poured out, as if to suggest it is coming from her soul. Shivites in India use water as a form of prayer in action – a woman would say a prayer to Shiva while pouring the water back into the river.
