brahmalila

Sold – Acrylic on canvas – 2002.
This painting uses a variety of symbols. The square of the painting’s canvas represents earth and smell. It is a static shape showing solidity. The circular Brahma icon behind the figures represents water and taste. It also indicates fullness and symmetry. Finally, the triangular composition of the women’s hands in movement symbolise fire and sight as well as activity and energy. Hatha Yoga, specifically the Egyptian Sun Salutation, has inspired this painting.
