trimurti

Mixed media on canvas – 2003. This painting makes reference to the Anahata Chakrawhich is located in the centre of the chest and is linked to personal development and responsibility.

The Hindu Trimurti (Trinity) of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva corresponds with the Christian Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit and is the focus of this work. The figure has three faces representing this symbolic Trinity. The hand gesture or ‘mudra’ is used in Hindu and Christian representation as a sign of blessing. This blessing symbolises protection and the dispelling of fears. This Trinity sits centrally between the Chakra symbol and Sanskrit text.
